Sunday, October 25th with Lisa Morton

10-12

This targeted Merrithew workshop teaches instructors how to assess body alignment, identify muscle imbalances, and customize exercise routines accordingly. It helps you see bodies clearly — noticing the imbalances your students may be working with — so you can prepare classes that support their posture and body rather than reinforce strength in poor alignment. This program will help you build programming that balances the body into functional alignment.

Core Workshop Objectives

  • Landmark Identification — Practice palpating and locating specific skeletal structures like the ASIS, greater trochanter, and scapulae.
  • Posture Types — Analyze static versus dynamic posture and identify deviations like kyphosis-lordosis, flat back, and sway back.
  • Custom Programming — Use findings to choose safe exercise modifications and restore muscle balance.

Key Details

  • Duration: Structured as a session ranging from 2 to 6 hours of practical continuing education.
  • Audience: Designed for student instructors preparing for certification exams and practicing movement professionals.
  • Tools Used: Pilates mat, support cushions, and an optional plumb line for vertical alignment checks.
